Avery Salada-Intro Blog
Hi everyone, my name is Avery Salada and I am a sophomore at Bloomsburg University, and am also an secondary education major with a concentration of English. I am from Lancaster, PA and live with my parents and 2 dogs. When coming to Bloomsburg for the first time I absolutely fell in love with the campus the first time I saw it and knew that I was going to be the school for me. I play with the club field hockey team which has me traveling to different local schools and playing games, while also not being in something that needs me to commit full time.
The most recent book that I have read and loved was both the Iliad and Odyssey, mainly do to my love for Greek mythology and the gods that come with the stories. Although this read is not for most, I would highly recommend reading and experience Homer's writing and the ability to recall a story passed down for generations. His writing makes you feel as if you are sitting there around the campfire listening to stories from a grandparent or a friend, you are immersed in the language and every detail given. It truly is a wonderful read.
The website that I have hyperlinked is the streaming service Hulu, https://www.hulu.com/. I love the streaming service/ website for its variety of shows and movies. For me after a long week or even after that one class that no one likes, it's the perfect desensitizer and helps give me a mental break before starting work or going away for a game. However a video that I would recommend is the YouTube videos playing concentration music, https://youtu.be/_4kHxtiuML0?si=tY7PDkhXCZ2j6W8U. I find my brain really focuses more when I have this playing during studying, writing papers, of even reading a book.

Hi Avery! I also love Greek mythology, although I don't have as much love for Iliad and Odyssey as you do lol. I also love Hulu and other streaming services, watching shows or movies is a great way to destress or put on for background noise.
ReplyDeleteHi Avery! I'm also a secondary education major and also play a club sport here. I also like Hulu and other streaming services for breaks!
ReplyDeleteHi Avery, we share the same major, which is secondary education in English. That seems to be common in this class. I am glad you fell in love with this campus because so did I. I have Hulu as well, and I love it.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing, Avery. It's certainly heartening to hear that you enjoyed Homer's works. You might try 'The Aeneid' when you have a chance. I think you'd also probably love some adaptations of those stories, perhaps 'Song of Achilles' by Madeline Miller.
