Introduction - Noah M.
Hey y’all, my name is Noah. I’m 18, turning 19 in April. I have 5 siblings—3 older and 2 younger—and was born and raised in the Lehigh Valley. I’m an English major—concentration of Literature and Society—with a Black Studies Minor. If all goes well by the end of this semester, I plan declaring a Political Science or Public Relations Major and/or Minor, not entirely sure yet. I love love love reading, it’s about the only thing I do when not with my friends or doing assignments. My favorite book series is Percy Jackson, a little cliche I know, but it’s been my favorite since I was in middle school. I would recommend it to anyone to be honest, same thing goes for my favorite show: Supernatural. It’s 15 seasons long and I would rewatch it over and over again if I had the time.

I’m also an extremely big Greek Mythology nerd, me and my bestie (pictured above) could and would go on for hours about it. It’s history, its influence on modern religion, etc. I haven’t read many modern retellings, but I’m definitely trying to get into more (if you have any recommendations, please comment them 🙏). If you’re interested, Tumblr is a good site to find likeminded people who also have great recommendations and breakdowns of various Greek Myths. I don’t have much else to talk about (lol), but I hope we can all have a good semester and enjoy any and all class discussion!

Hi Noah! That's also my major, that's exciting that you're minoring in that. I was thinking of it my freshman year, but I had too many minors haha. I also love the supernatural show. I'm from Wilkes barre; in fact, they made an episode based there. That's when I fell in love with it even more. Have you ever watched The Winchesters?
ReplyDeleteHi Noah!
ReplyDeleteI too am a big Greek Mythology nerd and would recommend taking Dr. Francis' Core Western Class where you get to read and learn about stories and plays including Greek Mythology! If you are looking for a modern retelling of stories I would recommend Natalie Hayne's book, "Stone Blind." Its about Medusa and her story retold in her eyes!!
Hi Noah,
ReplyDeleteI think it is awesome that you are a Greek Mythology fan! It is not something that I know a lot about, but think it would be interesting to study. I'm sure I will learn a bit about them in Core Western Texts next semester. I look forward to taking this course with you!
Thanks for sharing, Noah. I have been reading a lot of Greek myth adaptation lately. I'm a big fan of work by Natalie Haynes. Her work 'Stone Blind' about Medusa is fabulous. I also really love 'Circe' by Madeline Miller.
